How To Join The League Of Legends: Wild Rift Open Beta

In a livestream marking the opening of League of Legends' 11th competitive season, Season 2021, Riot announced that League of Legends: Wild Rift, the mobile version of League of Legends, will be playable in open beta in the Americas this March.

Although Wild Rift's official release date has yet to be announced, this is still welcome news for fans who have been waiting to test their arena combat chops on mobile since Wild Rift was first announced in October 2019. In a fitting bit of timing, the announcement coincided with League of Legends' tenth anniversary. Fans have been battling it out on Windows and macOS for ten years, but others have wanted mobile and console versions of the game for nearly as long.

Eventually, Wild Rift will also be available on consoles, but Riot hasn't specified which ones or when those versions might be available. In the meantime, here's how to join the North American open beta for League of Legends: Wild Rift.

How to join

Riot Games said they were working to "start service" in the Americas in March. When that happens, players in the Americas will be able to join Wild Rift the same way as players in other regions who have already had access to the games. The only requirement is that the player must live in the supported regions. First, you'll need to download and install a copy of Wild Rift from either the Apple or the Android store, depending on your device. Just like League of Legends, Wild Rift is free-to-play.

Once the game is downloaded, you'll be prompted to create a Riot Games account, if you don't have one already. You'll need an email address and a birthdate. You'll also have the option to create an account through your Facebook or Google account or via Sign in with Apple.

Wild Rift has already been available in beta in several countries since October 2020, and the new MOBA title's first esports season kicked off on Jan. 8, 2021. Players who can access the Americas open beta will be able to join that competition and challenge ranked players. Riot also hopes to broaden Wild Rift's "competitive ecosystem" during 2021.
