The Creepy Alien Easter Egg You May Have Missed In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing: New Horizons released in March 2020 and quickly became one of the most popular games of the year.

The popular Switch title has been adored around the world, and it's even being used politically. With features like seasonal bug catching, fishing, and creating the best island you can, the game has a seemingly endless amount of content. However, most players still haven't discovered an extraterrestrial secret that appears in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. That's right — in the early hours of the morning, it's actually possible to encounter some suspicious alien life forms.

Players who stay up until 3:33 a.m. on Saturdays will see an interesting broadcast on their televisions. An alien appears to talk to the player (or someone else not on screen) and will eventually show a UFO! This Easter egg lasts for exactly one minute, and at 3:34 a.m., the world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is back to normal.

The history of aliens in Animal Crossing titles

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a title that changed the Animal Crossing series, but it's not the first to include these creepy Easter eggs.

The previous installment of the series, Animal Crossing: New Leaf had pretty much the same hidden alien encounter. It occurred at the same time, but on Sundays and Mondays, effectively making this Easter egg twice as rare in New Horizons.

There's an even older event in two other Animal Crossing titles: a flying UFO. Players can actually use a slingshot to shoot down a UFO in Animal Crossing Wild World and Animal Crossing City Folk. Gulliver the seagull is found with the crashed spaceship, and players are tasked with finding the missing components to help him get back to flying (sound familiar, New Horizons players?).

That's not all. In Animal Crossing: The Movie, the main character, Ai, helps Gulliver find the necessary parts for his spaceship. It seems like the developers behind Animal Crossing series have an affinity for aliens and UFOs.
