The Weirdest Locations You Can Visit In Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a massive, expansive game that features a heavily detailed, extremely open world to play around in. You can find Skippy the talking gun sitting in an unassuming alleyway, and there's no shortage of small details and Easter eggs to be found in Night City. According to GamesRadar, CD Projekt Red stated that the map is "slightly smaller than The Witcher 3," but it's so dense that it makes up for the smaller size. There are six districts in Night City to explore: Watson, Westbrook, the City Center, Heywood, Santo Domingo, and Pacifica. Each district also includes sub-districts within, like Little China, Corpo Plaza, and West Wind Estate. There's also the Badlands outside of the city and other surrounding areas.
With so much to do and so many places to go, it's inevitable that players should find some weird things in Night City and other outlying areas. So, what are some of the weirdest locations in Cyberpunk 2077? What can players expect to find when they get there?
Heavily armed news studio
The gig "Freedom of the Press" involves some pretty weird stuff. In this gig, players are doing a favor for Regina Jones. According to IGN's walkthrough, Regina's journalist brother "has gotten into enough trouble that someone put out a hit on his head." The brother, Max, has gone into hiding, and Regina wants you to convince him to go into hiding with her instead. The gig takes place in Northside in Watson. Getting into the news studio where Max is hiding out is a difficult task: The place is set up with mines, turrets, and, strangely, mannequins. The place is also full of cameras, traps, and lasers across the floor. You'll have to avoid or disable these before you can move on.
When you get to the room where Max is hiding, he will threaten to kill himself if you don't tell him who you are. Once you convince Max to meet with Regina, all you have to do is put Max in a car, send him on his way, and head to a Drop Point.
Cyberpsycho blood ritual
Another Watson gig, "Cyberpsycho Sighting: Bloody Ritual," involves just that: a bloody ritual. One of the weirder things you can come across in Night City, this gig is part of the larger side job "Psycho Killer": Regina Jones is looking for you to incapacitate the cyberpsychos that are being spotted around the city.
In this particular gig, you'll come across a dark, dirty alleyway strewn with blood and guts and what looks like a satanic ritual. According to IGN's walkthrough, the area will include "a freezer," "5 bodies near the freezer, "a large white bloody sheet," "1 body left of the road behind a crate," and "bloody entrails slightly hidden under a pile of garbage bags..." Looting the bodies will turn up "Maelstrom Cultist's Shard." You'll need to crack the shard and then scan the area. The cyberpsycho should spawn in the freezer, and you have the option to kill them or take them in non-lethally.
Mad Max Easter egg
Southwest of Pacifica, past West Wind Estate into the Bio Technica fields, you'll find a fitting, if unusual, reference. In the fields, there's a stopped truck with a few bodies around it. One looks eerily similar to Furiosa from Mad Max: Fury Road, down to the shaved head and smudged black eyes, while another is a man with a face mask similar reminiscent of what Max wears in the beginning of the movie.
While there, you can find an archived conversation between someone named Charlize Fury and another named Dakota Smith. They discuss someone named Max and "the carriers" that are "all artificially fertilized." Fitting, because it's the fifth anniversary of Mad Max: Fury Road. Also fitting because of the post-war/post-apocalyptic setting. There's also a car from Fury Road that you can drive in Cyberpunk 2077: The car is a Quadra Type-66 Reaver, which is inspired by the 1970 AMC Javelin AMX, a longtime favorite of Mad Max fans.
