The Kayce And Monica Theory That Yellowstone Fans Don't Want To Hear

If Yellowstone fans have learned anything after three seasons, it's to expect the unexpected on the modern day cowboy series. As evidenced in the season 3 finale that left the lives of John, Beth, and Kayce all hanging in the balance, this isn't a show that's willing to pull its punches. And in an interview with Monsters and Critics, actor Luke Grimes hinted at more drama to come in season 4 — and this time it could be of the romantic variety.

While the fate of the Duttons is still unknown after season 3's cliffhanger ending, Kayce's survival seems likely. But just because he'll probably live through being attacked by armed gunmen that doesn't mean his relationship with Monica will survive another dangerous encounter.

At the start of the series, Monica and Kayce were on a break, but in season 2, the kidnapping of their son Tate actually brought them closer together. Since then, their relationship has been rock solid, but with the Duttons facing threats from all sides, Monica and Tate may be safer if they return to the reservation where Monica's family lives and leave the ranch behind for a while.

For his part, Grimes is remaining mum about what fans can expect in season 4, but he did share that he sees Kayce and Monica as a modern day Romeo and Juliet (and we all know how that relationship turned out).

Luke Grimes believes that Monica and Kayce will always find their way back to each other on Yellowstone

Despite Grimes believing that Monica and Kayce have quite a bit in common with Romeo and Juliet, the actor is surprisingly optimistic about the couple being endgame for Yelloestone. However, he also wants fans to brace themselves for more challenges to come.

"I've always just thought when I read that storyline and that love story that they're twin souls. They were meant for each other, but the weight of the world has always gotten in the middle. It's kind of that classic Romeo and Juliet storyline. We've seen them go through a lot..." Grimes said to Monsters and Critics. "But, I think, what we'll continue to see with them is that there's such a true love at their core, and at their core, they're both such good spirits that they'll always be attracted to each other."

But will they always stay together? The actor's words don't exactly inspire confidence in the pair's chances at sticking their relationship out for the long haul. Still, as long as Tate is in the picture, Monica and Kayce will never be fully apart, even if the latest Dutton tragedy drives yet another wedge between the star-crossed lovers.
