These Are The Best Weapons For Link In Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity

As you likely know from Breath of the Wild, Link has a ton of weapons to choose from. Since you don't get the Master Sword until about halfway through the game, you have to make do with what you find around Hyrule, claiming weapons from chests or straight-up stealing them from enemies. In the critically-acclaimed Age of Calamity, you're able to go one step further, fusing weapons and transferring skills from one weapon to another. By fusing your weapons at the blacksmith, you up the stats and power of your new weapon.

Weapons come in ten classes: one-handed, two-handed, spears, Sheikah slates, kodachis, bows, arm bands, maracas, bridles, and rock roasts. Link can only wield one-handed, two-handed, and spears, and some of the categories are exclusive to specific characters, like the kodachis or the arm bands. Zelda singularly wields the Sheikah slate, for example. But what about Link? What are his best weapons in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity?

One-Handed

The Master Sword is Link's best one-handed weapon; its attack damage is 34, rather low compared to some other weapons, but it emits a powerful beam attack when Link is at full health which makes up for it. The Sword Beam, or Skyward Strikehas been featured in almost every Zelda game, and it's a powerful tool when attacking from far away. According to Reddit user Ratio01, raising the Master Sword's level to its max will unlock two hidden seals that up the healing percentage you get from the sword and also increase the max damage at full health.

Forged by the Goddess Hylia as the Goddess Sword at first, the Master Sword was then transformed by the Goddess's chosen warrior and Fi into the Master Sword. Later, Zelda gave the sword her blessing, which transformed it into the True Master Sword. It is the only weapon that can defeat Ganon in every iteration. The sword chooses its own master, testing Link's wisdom, power, and courage before he can wield it. The Sage of Earth and the Sage of Wind are in charge of praying to the gods who give the Master Sword the power to vanquish evil.

Two-Handed

Link's best two-handed sword is the Royal Guard's Claymore. Its attack damage is 43, and can be obtained as a reward for clearing certain challenges. That damage may not sound too high, but in Age of Calamity, you can fuse your weapons to raise their stats and give them more power. Two-handed weapons generally deal more damage than one-handed, but Link can't wield a shield at the same time, and he's not as quick as he is with a shield and one-handed sword combo.

In the lore of the games, the Royal Guard weapons were made using ancient Sheikah technology and were modeled after the Royal weapons. Though they have higher base attack power, they are distinctly less durable than the Royal weapons. In Breath of the Wild, one can be found in one of the cells in Hyrule Castle's lockup. There is also a Moblin that wields one in the guards' chambers.

Spears

Link's best spear is the Royal Halberd, which has a base attack of 40. Like all weapons in Age of Calamity, it can also be fused with other weapons to up the stats. The great thing about spears in Age of Calamity is their reach. Attacking with a spear gives you longer range than a two-handed weapon, and much longer range than one-handed, so you don't have to get so close to your enemies to attack. Overall, spears are the ideal weapon for the more cautious warriors out there.

Fans of Breath of the Wild may recognize this weapon from that game, where it has a base attack of only 26, but can be upgraded with weapon bonuses. It was used by the Knights of Hyrule who guarded the throne room in Hyrule Castle. Silver enemies usually wield the Royal weapons in Breath of the Wild, while some Hinox wear them as jewelry.
