Linda's Voice Actor Teases Bob's Burgers 200th Episode And The Movie - Exclusive

This Sunday, November 15, Bob's Burgers will hit a huge milestone: episode number 200.

"Bob Belcher and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Kids" shows the Belcher family doing what they can to keep the restaurant open after Bob's beloved flattop breaks the morning of Ocean Fest. Looper spoke to John Roberts, the voice of Linda Belcher, in an exclusive interview about the upcoming landmark episode. We found out that he hasn't seen it either: When asked about a specific prop within the episode, Roberts said that he still hadn't seen the art for it since he usually watches each new episode "on Sunday night when it airs."

Roberts recognizes that "it's crazy to have a show on for this long," and only animated projects can last this many seasons — "besides M*A*S*H maybe." He then shared, "We didn't know we were going to get picked up for a second season, and it's really been a slow climb. Just the right timing, the right show, and it feels like we've earned it."

Episode 200 isn't even the first major milestone Bob's Burgers has hit, either. As Roberts told Looper, "I remember [hitting] 100 episodes, and being like, 'Wow, this is crazy.' And now this really does feel really crazy, but I'm happy to keep doing them, and I think this is a great script."

Something that makes "Bob Belcher and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Kids" so unique is that it doesn't treat itself like an anniversary episode. When asked if this episode felt special to him, Roberts replied that "they all feel special," but series creator Loren Bouchard wrote the episode in such a way that "if you'd never seen the show before you could watch this episode and jump on board."

That's not to say it's divorced from show history — not in the slightest. "They put a lot of special detail, especially for the fans and things like that," Roberts noted. "So they're very on top of making sure this is a special episode without breaking it all."

Longevity, the future, and the upcoming Bob's Burgers movie

Despite hitting an impressive 11 seasons and 200 episodes, Bob's Burgers is still the second youngest show in the Animation Domination block. That's what happens on programming slate bookended by The Simpsons and Family Guy, TV institutions that have been on for decades. Would Roberts be on board with Bob's Burgers running for as long as those two titans?

"I would love that obviously, as long as Loren's into it, and the writers are into it, and we can still preserve what we're doing right now, which I think is very possible," he told Looper. That said, he'd also feel immensely fulfilled even if Bob's Burgers creatives decided to wrapped up the show in the near future. "If it ended in two more seasons I would still be one of the luckiest people alive I feel like," Roberts said.

There's another big project on the horizon, too: the Bob's Burgers feature film, currently scheduled for release on April 9, 2021. Is there anything Roberts can divulge about it? When asked, Roberts shared with Looper, "I can tell you that I've seen parts of that and it's beautiful. The artwork is gorgeous, and there's a lot for the fans, and there are great songs and great moments for the characters." His praise didn't stop there: "It's big and it's beautiful." Then, seamlessly slipping into Linda's voice, he added, "And it's Bob's."
