War For The Planet Of The Apes: Watch The Ominous First Teaser

Caesar warns that we should go before the fighting starts, but that's actually what we can't wait to see.

Ahead of screening the first footage from the upcoming Planet of the Apes sequel, War for the Planet of the Apes, at this week's New York Comic-Con, 20th Century Fox unveiled the first teaser.

Although the stark and foreboding clip doesn't feature any shots from the film, it does include voiceover from Caesar, the chimpanzee revolutionary played (via motion capture) by Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars: The Force Awakens).

Here's the official synopsis (via JoBlo): "In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson). After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet."

Matt Reeves (2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) directs and Judy Greer and Steve Zahn co-star in the flick, set for release July 14, 2017. The series is one of a handful of reboots we think worked in a big way.
