New Doctor Strange Teaser Contains Hidden Messages

There's a new TV spot for Marvel's Doctor Strange, and only about half of it will make much sense to you. But if you know where to look, it's brimming with clues that could have far-reaching repercussions throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The brief spot features the origin story of Dr. Stephen Strange on his journey to become the Sorcerer Supreme, but the scenes appear in reverse-chronological order as star Benedict Cumberbatch repeats the word "time" over and over. Watch it above.

However, as IGN points out, if you play the clip backwards, it uncovers hidden dialogue spoken by the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). Check out that version below.

But that might not even be the biggest secret about the teaser. Comicbook.com notes that it apparently confirms a long-held fan theory that Doctor Strange will come to possess the Time Stone, one of two remaining Infinity Stones that have yet to be shown in the MCU. That's significant because, in the comics, when all six of the stones are combined, they create an incredibly powerful weapon.

In the Infinity Gauntlet saga, Thanos (played by Josh Brolin in the MCU) wields the stones to wipe out half the life in the universe. Recent reports suggest that the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War is actually based on that comic storyline. Comicbook.com also confirmed that the prop master for Doctor Strange said that the hero's Eye of Agamotto amulet contains one mysterious stone, while Cumberbatch revealed that Doctor Strange will also appear in Infinity War, hinting that none of this is coincidental.
