Everything We Know About The Vehicles In Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red's first major project after The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 is about to arrive after delays pushed its release date from April to November 19. The game has become one of the most anticipated titles of the year, and the developers have been steadily sending out updates giving gamers more details about the game.
So far, we've learned about missions, the setting of Night City, California, and characters like Evelyn Parker and Johnny Silverhand, the latter of which is played by Keanu Reeves. However, players have learned little about the vehicles available to purchase or steal in Night City, despite their prominent place in many trailers and gameplay demos.
However, CD Projekt Red made up for all that with their most recent Night City Wire episode. Host Hollie Bennet looks at a new vehicle-focused trailer and then dives deep into everything it reveals. Bennet then gives details about the different types of cars available and how customization will affect them. Here is everything we know about Cyberpunk 2077's vehicles.
Cyberpunk 2077 vehicle classes
One of the features that the new vehicle trailer, "Rides of the Dark Future," focuses on are the classes of vehicles that separate Cyberpunk 2077's cars and the fictional brands that produce them. There are five different vehicle classes — economy, executive, heavy duty, sport, and hypercar.
The economy class features cheap, underpowered cars such as an econobox-styled two-seater from Makigai alongside other clunkers and vans. Next, the trailer details some of the higher-end executive-class vehicles. These large luxury vehicles aren't the fastest cars in the game but show off some elaborate interior and exterior customization options.
The heavy duty trucks and tanks from the Militech and Kaukaz brands are featured next. The trailer shows these rigs plowing through obstacles and over other cars. Also offered are sport cars, including the off-road rally car Quadra, which Rockstar Energy recreated in real life.
Last up is the hypercars, described as the ultimate combination of speed and armor. The trailer shows the Rayfield Aerondight S9 featured in the gameplay reveal trailer and a car with a Jaguar-like logo called a Herrera. Later in the video, motorcycles are given the spotlight, particularly one modeled on real-world ARCH brand bikes.
Variations of Cyberpunk 2077 vehicles
In his interview with Night City Wire, Paul Dalessi, CD Projekt Red's senior vehicle artist, elaborates on how individual vehicles drive and play differently. Every car that the player purchases or steals is unique, and newer vehicles that look better most likely perform better.
As an example, Dalessi demonstrates that a version of a vehicle that a player acquires from a nomad might have solar panels strapped to the roof or other cyberpunk hotwire mods. These changes might make a car more durable for the rugged badlands territory but slow it down and make it less maneuverable in the city. These changes impact the interior of the vehicle as well. A Quadra from an upscale district of Night City is likely to have a beautiful light-up dashboard and display. The same car from the badlands may have the dashboard ripped out.
Dalessi also reveals the real-world vehicle featured in Cyberpunk 2077 teased in the "Rides of the Dark Future" trailer. The car belongs to Johnny Silverhand, main character V's digital ghost companion, and is a Porsche 911 930 manufactured in 1977 — making the vehicle 100 years old in the game.
