How Agents Of SHIELD Brought Ghost Rider To Life

After months of teasers and fleeting glimpses, Marvel's Ghost Rider finally drove onto Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Season 4 premiere, and it looks like it was worth the wait.

In a new featurette called "Creating the Ghost Rider," we can see how the show's special effects team turned Gabriel Luna into the fiery comic book character. Spoiler: it involves an LED hood, lots of CGI, and one very patient actor.

Visual effects supervisor Mark Kolpack walks us through the conception, preparation, and filming of Ghost Rider's explosive scenes. He said one of the bigger challenges was making a character with a flaming skull seem human. "To me, it was about having a character that the audience can actually connect to, can actually relate to, can feel," he said.
