You've Been Playing RoboCop In Mortal Kombat 11 All Wrong

With brawlers like those in the Mortal Kombat series, you can get away with a modicum of button-mashing to win a few matches and enjoy some of the jaw-breaking violence. But that's not really enough to explore the nuances of the franchise's characters: the moves unique to each, along with those cool combos and exciting Fatalities and Friendships

With RoboCop, you definitely want to explore these aspects. The results will remind you of why the original 1987 movie starring Peter Weller — who reprises the role for his character's Mortal Kombat appearance — was so much fun (and gory, and awesome).

RoboCop was introduced into Mortal Kombat 11 through its expansion, Aftermath, allowing fans the opportunity to pit his brawn against all your favorite Mortal Kombat heroes and some other fan favorites, too. But are you getting the most out of this cameo? If you're not playing him the right way, you could be missing out.

Here are some mistakes you're making as RoboCop in Mortal Kombat 11.

Not taking advantage of RoboCop's firepower and projectiles from a distance

As a Mortal Kombat contestant, RoboCop is a bit slower and clunkier than some. That's only to be expected with all that armor — although you'd think said armor would protect him better against some of the moves that fell the regular roster of fighters.

RoboCop's specials make him a major threat from afar thanks to his projectile weapons, flame thrower, rocket launcher, and other weapons of mass destruction — like the Shoulder Crowd Control Cannon, which lets loose a projectile that clunks to the ground but then explodes there.

To use RoboCop to his full potential, try to keep your distance from your opponent. He's great for zoning, so make that your strategy — keep your opponent away from you as much as possible using RoboCop's enviable arsenal. He's also hard to punish at maximum range, so take advantage. Baiting your enemies and then hanging back can be a good move here.

Not pitting RoboCop against the other movie characters

RoboCop isn't the only cinematic character that makes an appearance in Mortal Kombat. Batman's arch-enemy, The Joker, and the Terminator T-800 are also there, and the combination of these three cinematic stars provides for some fun Easter eggs you're not going to want to miss.

For example, when RoboCop beats the Joker, he blows off his hand, which is a clear reference to that scene in RoboCop in which baddie Clarence Boddicker does the same to cop Alex Murphy (who then becomes RoboCop) with the joke, "Well, give the man a hand!"

And when RoboCop meets the Terminator, he asks, "Haven't we done this before?" The Terminator says he has no record of a previous encounter, but RoboCop responds he is sure they have met. This little exchange recalls the 1994 game RoboCop Versus The Terminator.

Players seem to be loving RoboCop's appearance in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, complete with sidekick ED-209, a riot shield, and different-colored metal suits. Giving him the Mortal Kombat treatment was a good move, and it's exciting to see what else players can do to bring out the best in his juggernaut-like capabilities.
