How Long Does It Take To Beat Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles?

Final Fantasy games fit more into the action-RPG category these days, but way back when, turn-based battles were all the rage. That's what made Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles so unique when it debuted on the GameCube in 2004. Not only did it end a drought of Final Fantasy titles on Nintendo hardware; it also brought four-player co-op action to the series.

Now you'll get a chance to experience this beloved game once more, as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered is set to get a release on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and iOS in Summer 2020. But say you want to plan ahead. How much time should you set aside for this remaster? How long does it take to beat Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles?

Because we're essentially getting the same game — just with a fresh coat of paint — we already have the answer to that question. Get your planner ready.

Crystal Chronicles is shorter than you'd expect

According to the website How Long to Beat, it won't take you nearly as long to beat Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles as you might assume. This title — a GameCube gem with a makeover for modern consoles — isn't a sprawling 40-60 hour marathon, but rather something more middle-of-the-road.

The main campaign of Crystal Chronicles should take you somewhere around 21 hours to complete, which means you could knock it out playing a few hours after work for a week or two. Or, if you're really ambitious, you could have Crystal Chronicles wrapped up over a long weekend. Just don't forget to, you know, eat and shower.

That's not to say there aren't extras, however. If you want to go the completionist route and experience every side quest and mini-game Square Enix packed into Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, you can easily extend your playtime by roughly a dozen hours. This is where the Switch port will really come in handy. Have some time to kill at the train station? Pull out your Switch, knock out a side quest, and inch yourself a little bit closer to that 100%.
