Resident Evil 3 remake release date, trailer, multiplayer, and platforms

The Resident Evil 2 remake was met with resounding approval from Resident Evil fans. It only makes sense, then, that Capcom would work on remaking another beloved title in the series: Resident Evil 3. Rumors of Resident Evil 3 remake have been brewing for quite some time; now these rumors have been confirmed.

Though it's been suggested that there will be more changes from the source material than we saw with the Resident Evil 2 remake, fans can still expect to be transported back into the world of the third title in this series with some massive graphical upgrades.

Here's everything we know so far about the Resident Evil 3 remake release date, trailer, multiplayer, and platforms.

What is the release date for the Resident Evil 3 remake?

For those anxious to get their hands on a copy of the new Resident Evil 3 remake, you won't have to wait long. Resident Evil 3 will be available on April 3, 2020. The game is already available for pre-order, offering access to an exclusive costume pack with Jill Valentine's outfit from the original game. A collector's edition is also available for die-hard fans willing to drop $179.99.

Is there a trailer for the Resident Evil 3 remake?

During its State of Play, Sony released the first official trailer for the Resident Evil 3 remake. The trailer shows off Jill Valentine's new design and Raccoon City in all of its updated glory.

When comparing the trailer for the remake to scenes from the original Resident Evil 3, we can see just how far technology has come. And while many commenters have expressed frustration at Jill's new clothing, they'll be happy to know that her original outfit is still available. So if you want a shirt that practically screams "90s girl", all you need to do is pre-order the game and the exclusive costume pack will be included in your purchase.

On Jan. 14th, 2020, Capcom released yet another trailer for the Resident Evil 3 remake, this time focusing on Nemesis. The trailer shows our heroine Jill Valentine trying to lead the enemy away from her friends as Nemesis stalks her through heart-pounding situations.

Will there be multiplayer in the Resident Evil 3 remake?

Being able to play Resident Evil 3 with updated graphics isn't the only exciting news to come with the remake's announcement. Capcom is also including an online co-op minigame called Resident Evil: Resistance.

In Resistance, four players will form a team of survivors trying to escape from an experiment. The experiment is run by the fifth player who controls a character called Mastermind. With gameplay that is something akin to Friday the 13th: The Game, we imagine teamwork will come into play for the four survivors. So far, Capcom has confirmed six different survivor characters that players will be able to choose from.

What platforms will the Resident Evil 3 remake be available on?

The new Resident Evil 3 remake will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC upon release. So far there is no confirmation that it will be available on the Nintendo Switch in the future, though we'll keep you updated if any news breaks. For PC gamers worried that their system won't be able to handle the newest title, you're in luck. As long as your PC was able to handle running the Resident Evil 2 remake, you'll be good to go for Resident Evil 3.
