Who Is The Strongest Naruto Character Ever?

If one had to offer up just a single reason why Naruto is worth watching, they'd likely point to the incredibly powerful characters that fill out the roster and rocket the anime's action up into the stratosphere. The titular character, the young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki who dreams of becoming the leader of his village and bearing the moniker of the Hokage, is among the most formidable men and women of Naruto — but is he truly the mightiest of them all? Really, who is the strongest Naruto character ever? Let discuss.

A heated debate amongst Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, the second part of the anime series based on Masashi Kishimoto's manga series, loyals is how to rank the characters in terms of physical prowess and intelligence in battle. Some affirm that Naruto himself is the strongest — due to the unmatched amounts of chakra energy he can wield, the entity known as Kurama the Nine-Tailed Fox that was sealed in his body at a young age, his natural leadership qualities, his innate muscularity, his ability to utilize multiple forms of the spinning ball of chakra called Rasengan, and his eventual status as the Seventh Hokage.

However, one character whom many consider more powerful than Naruto is Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, otherwise known as the Sage of Six Paths. The leader of the Ōtsutsuki clan, Hagoromo was able to defeat the entity known as the Ten-Tails, was incredibly wise, mastered the advanced form of jutsu called kekkei mōra, created a unique branch of ninjutsu known as Ninshū, and had powers that included the Yin-Yang Release – which he created when he brought into existence the nine tailed beasts (the living forms of chakra) using the Creation of All Things Technique. Hagoromo was so powerful, in fact, that even after his death, his descendants were able to obtain jinchūriki-like abilities.

Two other members of the Ōtsutsuki clan, Hamura and Kaguya, have often found themselves at the top of fans' Naruto character power rankings.

Hamura was Hagoromo's fraternal twin brother, the founder of the shinobi of the Moon, and, like Hagoromo, one of the very first people who could wield chakra. Since Hagoromo was the first jinchūriki, a human who has a tailed beast sealed within themselves, it can be argued that Hamura isn't as powerful as his twin. Nonetheless, Hamura had some pretty wild abilities: he inherited two all-seeing white eyes called the Byakugan, one of the Three Great Dōjutsu, or distinctive eyes; had X-ray and 360-degree vision thanks to the Byakugan; could wield a sword with style; and had a massive chakra pool at his disposal, which allowed him to independently manifest the Tenseigan, the "Reincarnation Eye" dōjutsu that he was also able to destroy.

Many feel that Kaguya is stronger than both Hagomoro and Hamura — for a number of reasons that include the fact that she's the person who gave them their powers. The mother to the twins and the first person on Earth to wield and distribute chakra, Kaguya became a god-like being after she consumed the God Tree's fruit. She could fly and bounce across dimensions, absorb chakra and create substance from nothingness, shoot needles from her hair and use it as a weapon in battle, and even implement the existence-wiping Expansive Truth-Seeking Ball if she so pleased. Kaguya also had the power of regeneration; wielded the Byakguan, the Sharingan, and the Rinnegan dōjutsu; could manipulate time and space; transform into a monster by becoming the Ten-Tailed Beast; and vanquish her opponents by turning her bones into weapons and launching them at her enemies, which would reduce their bodies to ash. Basically, Kaguya is the biggest bad of all the big bads in Naruto

Does this all mean Kaguya — or Hagomoro, or Hamura — is the most powerful character in the anime, though? Well, that's up to fans' discretion.

Some viewers will contest to their deaths that plenty of other Naruto characters — like Madara Uchiha or Sasuke Uchiha – are stronger than the blonde-haired, blue-eyed ninja himself. On the flip side, others will argue until they're red in the face that no one can best Naruto in a one-on-one battle, considering all the attributes he carries. At the end of the day, pin-pointing exactly who is the strongest character in Naruto is less a matter of hard fact than it is a matter of opinion. All we'll say on the subject is that it'd be quite silly for an anime to be named Naruto if Naruto wasn't meant to be considered the top dog.
