The Wild South Park Theory That Makes Randy And Sharon Siblings

For a show that's been around for decades at this point, it's not at all surprising that "South Park" has become the source of some pretty out-there fan theories over the years. From the idea that Eric Cartman's (Trey Parker) obsession with Kyle Broflovski (Matt Stone) could have spawned out of love to the concept that the main cast of kids could represent the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, there's truly no limit to the kinds of things fans have come up with. One theory even suggests that Randy (Parker) and Sharon Marsh (April Stewart) are actually siblings.

This idea stems from Redditor u/yep2yel, who tossed it into the r/FanTheories subreddit. "Randy and Sharon are half siblings, sharing Marvin as a father. Marvin had Sharon before he was married," they posit, explaining that Randy's father, Marvin (Parker), is actually Sharon's father as well. They point to Sharon referring to him as "dad" on several occasions and telling Sheila Broflovski (Mona Marshall) directly that he's her father as evidence. Although, the fact that Sharon's maiden name is Kimble proves that they can't be full-on siblings, so they could only be half-siblings.

So, what do "South Park" fans think of this pretty shocking theory about the heads of the Marsh household? Well, reactions to it are mixed, to say the least.

This theory has generated mixed reactions from South Park fans

Considering that Sharon and Randy Marsh are married and have children together, the implication that they're in any way biologically related is an uncomfortable one. Unsurprisingly, many "South Park" viewers came to the aforementioned Reddit thread to express their disagreement with this theory. "When people get married, the wife/husband will refer to their spouses parents as Mom/Dad especially if they're own parents have already passed away," u/GeminiLife pointed out, with u/smi8174 linking to a subreddit dedicated to bad fan theories, seemingly indicating that this one belongs there.

On the other hand, some folks are a bit more accepting of this theory and were willing to come to its defense in the comment section. For instance, u/pelb thinks this is something that "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone would definitely do on the program. Then there's the matter of Jimbo Kern (Stone), who has been described as Randy's potential half-brother by the minds behind the program and Sharon's brother in Season 24's "The Pandemic Special." One could easily read deeper into this if they wanted to.

At any rate, this is just another in a long line of wild "South Park" fan theories. Will it become a reality? Or will it ultimately be written off as an instance of fans trying to read between the lines when there's nothing there to read? We'll just have to wait and see what becomes of Randy and Sharon Marsh as "South Park" continues.
