Sony Pictures and Rovio Entertainment are filling out the voice cast of their upcoming Angry Birds 2 with some big names. According to The Hollywood ReporterSaturday Night Live's Leslie Jones, This Is Us' Sterling K. Brown, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Rachel Bloom are among the large group of stars who have joined the cast of the animated flick.

Jason Sudeikis leads the returning cast for the film as Red, while other returnees include Josh Gad as Chuck, Bill Hader as Leonard, Danny McBride was Bomb, and Peter Dinklage as the Mighty Eagle. Jones is set to voice the film's villain. Other new cast members joining in the film alongside Bloom and Brown in undisclosed roles include Overboard's Eugenio Derbez, Silicon Valley's Zach Woods, Ocean's 8's Awkwafina, Get Out's Lil Rel Howery, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Dove Cameron, SNL's Beck Bennett, and The Florida Project's Brooklynn Prince.

2016's The Angry Birds Movie was not a favorite with critics, earning just a 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but it was much more impressive at the box office, pulling in $352.3 million worldwide against a $73 million budget. (That figure includes $107.5 million domestic.) This makes it the second-highest grossing video game adaptation of all time, after 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. (via Box Office Mojo)

"I'm thrilled about our incredibly talented filmmaking team and the hilarious people we've brought together for the sequel," the film's producer John Cohen said in a statement to THR. "We're so happy that Jason, Josh, Bill, Danny, and Peter are back for a second adventure joined by Leslie, Rachel, Sterling, Eugenio and this awesome ensemble of new talent."

The Americans and Ice Age scribe Peter Ackerman is working on the screenplay for Angry Birds 2, while Thurop VanOrman (The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack) will direct and John Rice (King of the Hill) will co-direct. David Maisel (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Catherine Winder (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will executive produce the film, which hits theaters on Sept. 20, 2019.
