New Cobra Kai Teaser Shows Off Daniel LaRusso's Fight Moves

Even though the Karate Kid has become the Karate Adult, he's still down for a fight — but he might not be as swift with his "wax on, wax off" defensive blocks as he used to be.

YouTube dropped a third teaser trailer for its upcoming series Cobra Kai, which follows up the iconic Karate Kid film series created by Robert Mark Kamen. The new clip centers on Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who trained under Mr. Miyagi (the late Pat Morita), and his frustration over the fact that his longtime rival Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) is reopening the Cobra Kai karate dojo. While Johnny has risen to greatness to become a sensei, Daniel has been down-on-his-luck and dejected, but things are about to change.

In the super-short, 32-second clip, we see teases of Daniel's fight moves (him spin-kicking a drink out of a car salesman's hand and practicing his knockout elbow uppercuts and front punches), people wearing the classic black-and-white skeleton costumes from the original Karate Kid movie, and Daniel explaining that he less so "kicked Johnny's a**" all those years ago than he did kick him "in the face."

Take a look above.

Cobra Kai also features Courtney Henggeler (The Big Bang Theory, Mom) as Amanda LaRusso, Xolo Maridueña (Parenthood, Rush Hour) as Miguel Diaz, Mary Mouser (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) as Samantha LaRusso, and Tanner Buchanan (Designated Survivor, The Fosters) as Robby Keene. Ed Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Lou Grant) is set to make a guest appearance as Sid Weinberg, Johnny's stepfather. Nichole Brown as Aisha Robinson, Griffin Santopietro as Anthony LaRusso, Gianni Decenzo as Demitri, Hannah Kepple as Moon, Gabe Bowles as Tim, Annalisa Cochrane as Yasmine, Connor Murdock as Kev, Denzel K. Williams as Caleb, Bo Mitchell as Brucks, Vanessa Rubio as Carmen Diaz, and Diora Baird as Shannon Keene round out the cast.

Here's the official synopsis for the series: "Thirty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, a down-and-out Johnny Lawrence (Zabka) seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, reigniting his rivalry with a now successful Daniel LaRusso (Macchio), who has been struggling to maintain balance in his life without the guidance of his mentor, Mr. Miyagi. The show is about two men addressing past demons and present frustrations the only way they know how: through karate."

Created by Jon Hurwitz (American Reunion), Hayden Schlossberg (Harold & Kumar), and Josh Heald (Hot Tub Time Machine), Cobra Kai is set for release later this year.
