The Expanse Season 3 Teaser Reveals Premiere Date
Even with all the planets in the solar system at our disposal in the distant future, humans definitely seem to have trouble co-existing.
Syfy released a teaser trailer for the third season of The Expanse, and it hints that humanity (or at least the main characters) could be at a breaking point. It also reveals that season 3 will premiere April 11 on Syfy.
Based on the bestselling book series by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pseudonym James S.A. Corey), The Expanse takes place 200 years in the future when humans have colonized the solar system. The United Nations controls Earth, Mars is an independent military power, and the Asteroid Belt provides resources for everyone else. But rising tension between these three places has led to a war for control. There's also the matter of the mysterious protomolecule–an infectious agent of extra-terrestrial origin that can radically alter infected life forms.
According to the cable network (via Entertainment Weekly), "Now, more than ever, the mission to unlock the secret of the protomolecule reaches an all-time high and every decision made could jeopardize the survival of the solar system."
However, the central characters are also trying to handle their own internal struggles. "We've all made mistakes," says Holden (Steven Strait) in the trailer. "Each of us has demons, regrets, a past that haunts us. But now it's time to decide if we'll let those mistakes define us."
The series also stars Shohreh Aghdashloo, Dominique Tipper, Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham and Frankie Adams. Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost) and Oscar nominee David Strathairn (Good Night, and Good Luck) also join the cast in season 3, which will consist of 13 episodes.
