Robert Pattinson To Star In Fantasy-Horror The Lighthouse
Twilight star Robert Pattinson will explore a different kind of supernatural in an upcoming flick.
Deadline reports that Pattinson will star opposite Willem Dafoe in The Lighthouse, a fantasy-horror from The Witch director Robert Eggers.
Plot details are still firmly under wraps, but the movie will be set in a world filled with old sea-faring myths. Eggers and Max Eggers wrote the script and production will begin this spring for RT Features and A24. New Regency (The Revenant) is co-financing the movie.
In a statement, A24 said the distributor is "beyond excited to be partnering again with Rob Eggers, a true visionary and one of the great filmmakers of his generation. This new script blew us away — it creates a totally unique and ambitious universe and manages to somehow feel scary, suspenseful, wondrous and beautiful all at the same time. We can't wait to work with Rob and his team and our partners at RT Features, Parts & Labor and New Regency to help bring this story to life."
Eggers drew critical acclaim for 2015's The Witch, starring Anya Taylor-Joy. Filmed on a budget of just $4 million, it grossed more than $40 million worldwide.
Meanwhile, Pattison has moved on with life after Twilight with a well-received turn in last year's crime thriller Good Time. He also recently wrapped production on the upcoming sci-fi thriller High Life.
