Octavia Spencer To Star In Blumhouse Thriller Ma

Octavia Spencer is bringing some star power (and her Oscars cred) to an upcoming horror flick from the studio behind Get Out.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress known for The Help and Hidden Figures has signed on to star in the thriller Ma. Of course, it's not to be confused with the 2013 horror Mama or Darren Aronofsky's divisive mother!.

The movie will bring Spencer back together with The Help director Tate Taylor. Although plot details are still under wraps, Ma is described as a psychological thriller. But clearly, Blumhouse is looking to Comedy Central for talent after Jordan Peele (of Key & Peele) found breakout success with Get OutWorkaholics writer Scotty Landes penned the script.

Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast) and Juliette Lewis (Natural Born Killers) are also aboard the movie, which begins filming next week in Mississippi.

Spencer won an Oscar in 2012 for her supporting role in The Help, and she was recently nominated again for Guillermo del Toro's The Shape of Water.
