The Unexpected Reason Mila Kunis Is Hesitant To Introduce Her Children To Family Guy
Since the second season of the Fox animated series "Family Guy," which first premiered in 1999, actress Mila Kunis has played the eldest Griffin child, Meg. The teenager, known for sporting round glasses and a pink beanie, is treated poorly by her family members, especially her father, Peter Griffin, voiced by the show's creator Seth MacFarlane.
In an October 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, Kunis noted that she was just 15 years old when she snagged the role. "I remember my manager Susan at the time being like, 'There's a show called 'Family Guy,' the actress quit because she didn't find the show to be in line with her ethical beliefs. You wanna audition for it?'" recalled the "Black Swan” actress. Kunis also mentioned that Meg is not the most talkative "Family Guy" character. "Half the time, Meg doesn't talk. She's kind of like in the background that gets farted or sat on. So if I have dialogue, I'm really happy," she explained. Despite her fondness for the series, the actress shared that she is hesitant to show it to her two children, Wyatt and Dimitri, who she shares with her husband, Ashton Kutcher, while speaking to Entertainment Tonight Canada.
Mila Kunis thinks being the voice of a cartoon character might confuse her kids
Due to the show's crude humor, some "Family Guy" fans may believe that Mila Kunis does not want her children to watch the cartoon as it may not be age-appropriate. However, she asserted that she has no issue with its content. Instead, she believes her son and daughter may find it confusing when they realize their mother voices a cartoon character. "I'll let them discover it on their own. I think it's so weird. It would be so — I don't know, whenever they want to [watch it]. I think the show's funny, I also — we curse in the house, it's not the censorship that worries me, it's the idea of, like, 'Why is mom's voice on a cartoon?'" the "That '70s Show" actress told Entertainment Tonight Canada in 2020.
While Kunis may not be strict with what her children can watch on television, she and her husband have set firm rules in their household. During an April 2021 appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the actress shared that she is committed to making sure her son and daughter are not materialistic. She explained that they do not have many possessions and wear second-hand clothing. "Our kids are super fortunate. Like regardless, they were born at the right time to the right people, and I love them, but they are not going to be entitled a**holes," vowed Kunis.
