The X-Files Featurette Drops Big Clues About Season 11

The truth is out there somewhere, and Mulder and Scully have to be getting closer to it by now.

There's a new "super-tease" trailer for the upcoming 10-episode season of The X-Files, and it's out best look yet at what's to come. Of course, The X-Files returned for a six-episode revival last year, but it left us with more questions than answers.

The featurette has lots of clips from the upcoming eleventh season along with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with creator Chris Carter and cast members David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and Mitch Pileggi. We also get a glimpse at William B. Davis as the Cigarette-Smoking Man, Mulder in a Sasquatch costume, and a little bit of information about Mulder and Scully's son.

This season promises to be more of a return to the original series in that there will be more standalone episodes than the 2016 revival, but there will still be deep dives into the show's mythology. After all, we have to find out what happened in that season 10 finale cliffhanger. Anderson said this season is "more quintessential X-Files."

The series originally premiered in 1993 and earned 16 Emmys during a nine-season run. It also spawned two movies: 1998's The X-Files and 2008's The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Season 11 will premiere Jan. 3 on FOX.
