Narcos Season 4 To Star Diego Luna And Michael Peña

Pablo Escobar's story may be over, but his legacy continues to cast a long shadow.

Today, Netflix announced that its drug war drama, Narcos, will return for a fourth season in 2018 with a brand new cast, this time starring Diego Luna and Michael Peña. Check out the, uh, festive teaser announcement above.

The third season of Narcos, released by Netflix on September 1, followed Pedro Pascal's DEA agent Javier Peña as he hunted down a new set of targets in the drug war. The fourth season looks like it's going to take that a step further with these new characters, though the streaming service has so far provided no details as to who exactly they will be.

Even the plot of the fourth season is being kept under wraps for now, leaving the fate of the series' existing characters up in the air. Production on the fourth season of Narcos recently kicked off in Mexico City, signaling that the series will—at least in part—shift locations from Colombia to Mexico.

Luna and Peña previously worked together on the 2014 movie Cesar Chavez, which Luna directed in his English-language directorial debut.

Luna is most widely known for starring as the rebel Cassian Andor in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and he also recently starred in the remake of Flatliners. Peña recently starred in The Martian, Crash, and American Hustle, and is set to reprise his Ant-Man role in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Narcos returns on Netflix in 2018.
