The Good Place Renewed For Season 3

Get ready for more adventures in The Good Place. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Michael Schur-created comedy has been renewed for a 13-episode third season.

The Good Place follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), a woman who wakes up in a heavenly afterlife known as the Good Place. As the season one finale revealed, there is a lot more to the Good Place than meets the eye, with season two taking on the ramifications of Eleanor's shocking discovery in the finale. The twisty, critically acclaimed series also stars Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and D'Arcy Carden.

The Good Place was ordered straight-to-series in February of 2015. It has improved in the ratings throughout its run, averaging a 2.6 rating in the 18 to 49 demo with seven days of delayed viewing and additional platform viewing all taken into account, a jump from its 2.57 rating in season one. The series is one of the first NBC shows to earn an early renewal for next season, after This Is Us and Will and Grace.

The cast all shared their excitement for the renewal on Twitter, with Jamil writing an all caps message reading, "WELL HOLY FORKING SHIRT FORK BENCH FORK!!!!" Harper added, "Hey there motherforkers. Let's get weird." Danson tweeted a gif of his character from the show, saying, "Well, as the humans like to say: third time's the charm, right?"

The Good Place's second season airs at 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays on NBC. The show returns from its mid-season hiatus on Jan. 4.
