Finn Finally Wakes Up In New Star Wars: The Last Jedi TV Spot

Nothing can stop Finn from getting back to his friends.

At the end of The Force Awakens, and in the first trickling of Last Jedi footage that came earlier this year, fans were left wondering when the former Stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega) would awaken after Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) struck him with a life-threatening blow. What's more is that Finn was shipped off to recover at a Resistance base on the planet D'Qar before his right-hand woman Rey (Daisy Ridley) ventured out to meet Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).

In the newest television spot for writer-director Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Finn (John finally jolts awake from his coma-like slumber, banging his forehead against the clear dome of his healing pod and screaming out for Rey. We then see a worried Finn speak with Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), who says to him, "You must have a thousand questions." However, Finn has just one for his close companion: "Where's Rey?"

Immediately after, the footage shifts to glimpses of the film that we have already seen in other trailers, like Rey handing Luke his lightsaber and asking for help, and Poe declaring that the Resistance is the "spark that will light the fire that will burn the First Order down." We then hear Finn say, "I was raised to fight. For the first time, I have something to fight for," as he battles a Stormtrooper with what appears to be a large piece of metal. It all wraps with Rey looming above Luke (shown off-camera, though we know it's him from previously released footage), holding a lightsaber of her own in her hands.

Check it out in the video above.

Finn's calling out for Rey is definitely sentimental and is an excellent sign that the scuffle with Kylo didn't rough him up to the point where he can't remember anything, but it's important to note that he won't be in tip-top shape in The Last Jedi. Boyega revealed earlier this year during Star Wars Celebration that because Finn is "in a bad way" at the end of The Force Awakens, he'll have to work through "a lot of issues" in The Last Jedi, including learning to properly walk again.

"He got slashed with a saber, and that took him down real hard... There's some additional few things that need to be done to make him mobile. He's definitely in a place where he needs some help," Boyega said. "It's a grounding injury. It's going to take him some time to get back on the ball [because] once [the lightsaber] is in, it continues to burn the skin and the cells. It's not a piece of flame that whacks your body. It's not something that works like a stab wound. It's really brutal."

But once Finn recovers completely, he will embark on a "crazy adventure" with Poe and new Star Wars character Rose Tico, played by Kelly Marie Tran. The baddies of the First Order best beware.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will hit theaters on December 15.
