The Alienist trailer, premiere date revealed by TNT
TNT is going back in time for its upcoming psychological thriller.
The cable network unveiled a new trailer and announced a release date for The Alienist, starring Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds, Captain America: Civil War), Luke Evans (Dracula Untold, Beauty and the Beast), and Dakota Fanning (War of the Worlds, The Twilight Saga).
Set in 1896, the show centers on a series of gruesome murders of young male prostitutes in New York City. Police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt (Brian Geraghty) enlists criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Brühl) and newspaper illustrator John Moore (Evans) to investigate in secret. They're joined by Sara Howard (Fanning), a secretary who wants to become the city's first female police detective. Using early forensic investigation techniques and psychology, they set out to find the killer.
Douglas Smith, Matthew Shear, Matt Lintz, Robert Ray Wisdom and Q'orianka Kilcher co-star and Jakob Verbruggen (Code 37, Black Mirror) directs.
The Alienist premieres Jan. 22 on TNT.
