What's The Song In The Black Panther Trailer?

Black Panther looks like it'll take Marvel flicks in a brave new direction and the trailers definitely sound like it, too.

Marvel unveiled the first full trailer for the upcoming solo movie starring Chadwick Boseman as the embattled king of Wakanda, and it's awesome even if you just listen to it. That's because it's set to the Vince Staples track "BagBak" from the Ramona Park rapper's latest album Big Fish Theory.

Like much of the material on the critically acclaimed album, "BagBak" straddles the line between hip-hop and electronica, which provides a perfect soundtrack to Black Panther. The film is predominantly set in Wakanda, a small African nation that's secretly the most technologically advanced nation on the planet.

While the track has all the makings of a club banger with a thumping, glitchy beat and anthemic chorus, it's also laced with Staples' fluid and political lyrical flow. The version in the trailer is a little different than the album cut, tinged with driving synths and samples from Gil Scott-Heron's 1970 poem and song "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised."

The first teaser for Black Panther was sonically evocative, too. It featured "Legend Has It" by Run the Jewels.

The movie hits theaters Feb. 9, 2018. Meanwhile, listen to Staples' NSFW "BagBak" below.
