Keanu Reeves Resurrects His Family In Replicas Trailer

Is there anything Keanu Reeves can't do?

During this week's New York Comic Con festivities, Reeves unveiled the first trailer for his upcoming sci-fi thriller Replicas. Though the film hasn't been completed at the time of writing, it looks incredibly intense.

In Replicas, Reeves stars as Will Foster, a neuroscientist settled in Puerto Rico whose family dies in an accident. Reeves' Foster had been working on a way to transfer human consciousness into a computer before the tragedy occurred, and afterward, he enlists the help of his scientist pal Ed Whittle (Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch) to aid him in secretly cloning his family to bring them back to life. However, things get far more complicated when Foster learns that he is only able to bring three of his four family members back (including his wife played by Alice Eve). From there, he is faced with the ultimate Sophie's Choice decision about which ones to revive.

Director Jeffery Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow) spoke about how the film functions cautionary tale, stating during New York Comic Con on Thursday, "There are some moral questions, some ethics questions about bringing someone back. You always have a price to pay when you fool around with mother nature" (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Reeves also discussed his role in Replicas and his behind-the-scenes creative duties as executive producer. "It's been a process I really love... developing an idea, a character, and a world," Reeves said to the packed room at the Javits Center. "I love science fiction, I love the Trojan horse of it... all other genres can fit inside science fiction."

The actor then revealed that another Bill & Ted movie is in the works, but only has a script as of right now. "There's a script out there. It's called Bill & Ted Face the Music. We're just trying to get it made. Show business is tough," Reeves laughed when talking about pulling together finances and creative efforts for the project. Reeves also mentioned that the third John Wick movie, set for release on May 17, 2019, is looking to start filming early next year.

Written by London Has Fallen scribe Chad St. John, Replicas doesn't yet have a release date, but is expected to launch sometime in 2018.
