The Punisher Adds Oscar Nominee To Cast

The Punisher just added some prestige to its cast.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Shohreh Aghdashloo has signed on for a recurring role on the upcoming Netflix series based in the Marvel universe.

Best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in 2003's House of Sand and Fog, Aghdashloo will play Farah Madani, the mother of Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah), a Homeland Security agent who is on the trail of the Punisher (Jon Bernthal). Born in Iran, Farah spent most of her life in the U.S., where she's a successful psychiatrist.

Aghdashloo has worked in the genre before. She had a small part in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and she currently stars on Syfy's The Expanse. And it won't be the first time that Aghdashloo plays Revah's mother: she did it in HBO's House of Saddam, which was produced by The Punisher showrunner Steve Lightfoot. Aghdashloo won an Emmy for that role in 2009.

The Punisher also co-stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls), Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil), and Ben Barnes (Westworld). Watch the first teaser and check out some Punisher facts you may not know.
