The Defenders Are Divided In New Trailer

We've got less than 24 hours before The Defenders hits Netflix, but because Marvel knows how impatient its loyal fans can be, they've graced us with another trailer for the superhero team-up. The trailer is all about Sigourney Weaver's mysterious villain Alexandra, who promises to rain hell down on the newly formed foursome.

The trailer starts by offering up another tidbit to add to our short but growing list of things we know about Alexandra: she's a sucker for fortune cookies. She makes this reveal when she meets up with the series' central heroes, Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Danny Rand/Iron Fist (Finn Jones), alongside Scott Glenn's Stick, at the Chinese restaurant that has popped up in many of the show's trailers thus far.

"You know, I thought it would be a good idea if we all talked this over like adults," she says. Stick fires back by asking what she wants, to which she replies, "The same thing I've always wanted. To bring light into the dark. To bring life where there is death." As Luke rightfully points out, though, Alexandra, despite all her talk of life, has a nasty habit of killing a lot of people.

"I can see you formed a bond here," Alexandra says, as images of the Defenders and their friends from their individual series in action flash by. "I promise you it's temporary. They will disappoint you. And if I might give you some advice, the more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you. You need to think this through. New York is so densely populated."

Of course, as the trailer shows, the team has no intention of taking Alexandra's words to heart, with Matt quickly pointing out that the only way out of their situation is together. Don't count on it being all smooth sailing for the team, though, with Jessica ending the trailer with one of her signature barbs, this time aimed at "Iron Clad."

Rosario Dawson, Jessica Henwick, Simone Missick, Elodie Yung, Scott Glenn, Rachael Taylor, Deborah Ann Woll, Carrie-Anne Moss, Elden Henson, and Eka Darville are also set to appear in The Defenders, which will premiere all of its eight episodes on Friday. For now, get some hints on what to expect by reading up on the superhero team's untold truth.
