More Details Of Rey And Luke's Star Wars: The Last Jedi Relationship Revealed

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will reveal the results of one of The Force Awakens' most anticipated moments, in which Rey (Daisy Ridley) finally finds Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on the deserted planet of Ach-To. However, according to the two stars, the meeting won't be all pleasant, with Luke not taking well to the disturbance to his life.

Rey shows up on the island with the goal of bringing Luke back to the resistance, and, while she is "hopeful" upon meeting him, he isn't exactly happy to see her. "There's a hint of, 'What the hell?” Ridley said in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. His attitude makes her miss her gruff interactions with Han Solo (Harrison Ford), with Ridley saying she starts to wonder, "'Oh my God, this other man that I lost within a couple days was somewhat of a father figure. Now he's gone, and instead I'm with this grumpy man on an island who doesn't want me here."

Luke's coldness towards her apparently hits hard at Rey's abandonment issues, with the character having gotten used to being able to make friends (and enemies) quickly since being pulled away from Jakku. "Regardless of everything else, she's been welcomed," Ridley said. "No one ever really turns away from her."

Luke, though, is different, and that may be at least in part due to Rey's lofty goals of pulling him back into the fight. "I don't think one girl, who he doesn't know, turning up with a lightsaber is gonna make him go, 'Oh s***, yeah, of course, I'll get back into the action,'" Ridley said. "But does he not know her?" Hamill added mysteriously in a separate interview.

That question, along with many others we still have after seeing The Force Awakens, will hopefully be answered when The Last Jedi hits theaters on Dec. 15.
