John Wick Screenwriter Working On New Action-Thriller Franchise

The man behind the John Wick movies will branch out in a new direction.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Derek Kolstad is working on a new action-thriller called The Steward. Although plot details are still top secret, the project is being planned as the first installment of a potential franchise. 

Before that, however, Kolstad will write the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 3, which will bring back Keanu Reeves as the semi-retired assassin. John Wick: Chapter 2, which came out in February, grossed $166 million worldwide, and the movie was met with nearly universal critical acclaim.

There's no word on whether or not Kolstad would be involved in the planned John Wick prequel TV series, The Continental. Franchise director Chad Stahelski recently said the show would not center on Wick, but would instead revolve around the mysterious world of the hotel chain where Wick takes refuge with other hired killers. However, Stahelski didn't rule out a possible appearance by Reeves.
