Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell reunite in Daddy's Home 2 trailer
Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell are back in the new trailer for Daddy's Home 2– and this time, they've recruited Mel Gibson and John Lithgow as well. The film, a sequel to the 2015 movie, will see Wahlberg's Dusty and Ferrell's Brad now co-parenting in peace. Their new dynamic, though, is thrown for a loop when their fathers show up for Christmas.
The trailer begins by showing how far Dusty and Brad have come since the events of the first film, with the two's parenting rivalry now off the table. "Step-dads and dads don't always get along, but Dusty and I have this co-dad thing on lockdown," Brad says. However, not all is perfect between the two, as they get into a minor snafu over the snacks for the kids that night.
Still, they've reached a point where they're ready to tell the kids that they'll be having a combined Christmas for both families that year. Their plans are turned upside down, though, when they get a call from Dusty's father Kurt (Gibson), who says that he's coming for Christmas. "He dresses so cool, yet I can't picture him actually going shopping," Brad says as they wait to pick Kurt up at the airport.
Dusty doesn't have the best relationship with his father, contrary to Brad, who kisses his dad on the mouth when he arrives at the airport because it's been a whole two weeks since they saw each other. Kurt isn't happy to see that Brad is the one raising his grandchildren, and Dusty becomes convinced that his presence will ruin Christmas. (Something which is supported by Kurt trying to tell the kids a dead hooker joke.)
Linda Cardellini, John Cena, Scarlett Estevez, Owen Vaccaro, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Didi Costine also star in the movie, which was directed by the first film's Sean Anders based on a script from Anders and John Morris. The movie is set for a Nov. 10 release; while we wait, see some other movies you won't want to miss this year.
