Angela Bassett Cast In Mission: Impossible 6

We can practically hear her saying, "Your mission, if you choose to accept it..."

Deadline reports that Angela Bassett has climbed aboard Paramount Pictures' Mission: Impossible 6. The Golden Globe-winning actress will play Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) new CIA director, though the character's name hasn't yet been revealed. Bassett will reportedly begin filming her M:I 6 scenes next week.

Bassett, whom fans likely recognize from her work on the FX anthology series American Horror Story, also joins Henry Cavill, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirky, Alec Baldwin, and Sean Harris for the film. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie (Edge of Tomorrow, The Mummy), the sixth Mission Impossible movie began production in April.

Once she's wrapped on her new action role, Bassett will dive into 20th Century Fox's forthcoming series centered around 911 operators. Alongside American Horror Story creatives Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, Bassett will executive produce the show's 13-episode first season. She'll also star in Disney and Marvel's Black Panther as T'Challa's stepmother, Ramonda. The superhero flick is due out in theaters on Feb. 18, 2018.

Apart from casting announcements, not much else is known about Mission: Impossible 6. Good thing we have until July 27, 2018 (when the film is released) to learn more. While we wait, find out why Mission: Impossible 6 will be better than you think.
