Justice League Theatrical Trailer Unveiled
The first official trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League has been unveiled, and boy, is it chock-full of stunts, superhero skills, and a good smattering of wit.
Starring all of our favorite crime-fighting vigilantes, the flick immediately follows the grim events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The trailer dives straight in, allowing viewers to metaphorically shake the hands of the newest (and hopefully strongest) superhero organization on Earth and even beyond. Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) finds a buddy in Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck, a.k.a. Batfleck), and the dynamic duo give a run-down of the Justice League roster: Arthur Curry, "the Aquaman," played by Jason Momoa; the man with "organic and biomechatronic body parts," Cyborg (Ray Fisher); and speedster Barry Allen/The Flash, portrayed by Ezra Miller.
The fearsome five join forces in the theatrical trailer, which you can watch in the video above.
Here's the full plot synopsis: "Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash — it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions."
Not only does this first full-length look tease some pretty intense fight sequences and flights across a smoke-filled sky, it also hints at the humor that may be present in the final version of Justice League. In one scene, Flash (Ezra Miller) asks Batman (Ben Affleck) what exactly his super powers are. His response? "I'm rich." That kind of tongue-in-cheek answer is quite the deviation from the bleak tone present in previous DC Cinematic Universe installments, and may very well be a welcomed change of pace for viewers around the world. Additionally, it could be a smart move on the Distinguished Competition's part to keep up with Marvel, who are quite well-known for their campier, lighter superhero flicks.
