Dwayne Johnson's Skyscraper heading to theaters next summer
The Rock is set to rock the box office next summer in the action-packed flick Skyscraper. Universal and Legendary Pictures confirmed (via Variety) that the film will hit theaters on July 13, 2018.
Dwayne Johnson plays Will Ford, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and a war veteran, who has turned his life in a new direction: ensuring skyscrapers are as safe as they can be. When an assignment in China goes awry, Ford is framed for lighting ablaze the safest skyscraper ever built. Skyscraper will follow Ford as he attempts revenge on those behind the crime and the slander, and as he attempts to rescue his family who are stuck inside the burning building.
Here's the full synopsis for Skyscraper: "Global icon Dwayne Johnson leads the cast of Legendary's Skyscraper as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Ford, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he's been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building… above the fire line. Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence, We're the Millers), the 3D action-thriller is produced by Beau Flynn (San Andreas, Baywatch), Johnson and Thurber. Skyscraper's executive producers are Dany Garcia (Baywatch, Ballers) and Hiram Garcia (San Andreas, Central Intelligence). Wendy Jacobson (San Andreas) is co-producer. The film will be released by Universal Pictures."
