JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Live-Action Film Teaser Revealed

We can practically hear you humming the lyrics to the series' "Great Days" opening. (Don't worry, we're just as excited as you are.)

Cinema Today has just released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action JoJo's Bizarre Adventure film. Adapted from the massively successful manga series of the same name written by renowned artist Hirohiko Araki, the big screen translation will center around the fourth JoJo arc, Diamond is Unbreakable. The upcoming flick claims it's only "Chapter 1" of the Diamond is Unbreakable story, and many fans have taken this as a hint that future installments may be coming soon.

Takashi Miike serves as director on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Chapter 1, a filmmaker who has gained traction both for his stellar work and for his controversial decisions. Miike's standout behind-the-camera skills can be seen in the hyper-violent Ichi the Killer and the oddly romantic horror flick Audition, as well as in various adaptations of games, manga series, and animes such as the courtroom drama Ace Attorney, Terra Formars, and Yatterman.

The live-action film focuses on the lives of high-school students Josuke Higashikata (Kento Yamazaki), Okuyasu Nijimura (Mackenryu), and Koichi Hirose (Ryunosuke Kamiki) as they investigate a string of mysterious, unexplained disappearances that have rocked the quant town of Morioh, a fictional town nestled within Japan's M Prefecture in S city. What the boys weren't expecting, however, is to come face-to-face with a cold-blooded (and all-powerful) killer who shows little sympathy and a whole lot of sadism.

Check out the full teaser above.

Joining the three main men are Takayuki Yamada as Anjuro "Angelo" Katagiri, a minor but menacing antagonist that pops up at the start of the story; Yusuke Iseya as Jotaro Kūjo, Josuke's biological uncle; and Nana Komatsu as Yukako Yamagishi, Koichi's not-so-secret admirer. No casting announcements have been made regarding other Diamond is Unbreakable favorites like the in-series manga artist Rohan Kishibe, and it hasn't yet been revealed who will be stepping into the sinister shoes of Kira Yoshikage.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Chapter 1 is set to release in Japanese theaters in August. In the meantime, fans can get hyped up about another live-action anime adaptation: Fullmetal Alchemist.
