New Beauty And The Beast Clip Teases Familiar Dinner Scene

The 1991 Disney animated classic had audiences around the world humming the lyrics to "Be Our Guest" nearly any time they had a dinner party planned, and today, the forthcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast stirred up those familiar feelings with an all-new clip.

Entitled "Dinner Invitation," the latest look at the Bill Condon-directed flick gives fans a better view of Dan Stevens as the Beast. Here, he's seen gussying up in his very best dress in preparation for a possible meal with Belle—elements audiences saw a few decades ago in the original cartoon film. The Beast flashes in the mirror a charmingly awkward smile, not knowing his invitation has been declined; just on the other side of the door, Belle is seen attempting an escape from the castle.

Not only does the clip take a unique, fresh spin on a scene we know and love from years past, it also gives glimpses into the Beast's complexity, and how Stevens will stack up in the monstrous role. Quite different from the snarling scowl seen in the film's full-length trailer, the Beast in "Dinner Invitation" is softer, even somewhat sweet. Take a look in the video above.

Viewers also get a sneak peek of the animated objects decorating the castle: Ewan McGregor as Lumière, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, and Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, all of whom sound pretty fantastic in their roles. These characters join Luke Evans as Gaston and Josh Gad as LeFou, whom fans saw singing a campy rendition of "Gaston" earlier this week.

Beauty and the Beast opens nationwide on March 17, and it's definitely not one to miss this year, as it made our most anticipated films of 2017 list.
