Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Isn't A PlayStation 4 Exclusive

Good news, Crash fans: if you don't own a PlayStation 4, it sounds like you'll still be able to play Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the high-definition remaster of the original three Crash Bandicoot games. You'll just have to wait a little while.

"It has been fantastic to see the excitement from Crash fans around the world following Activision's confirmation that the N. Sane Trilogy will launch on 30th June 2017," PlayStation Ireland said on Twitter. "To clarify our earlier post, it will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro first."

While that could mean that Activision has plans to release the N-Sane trilogy on the PlayStation 3 and Vita at a later date, the more likely option—and the one that most people seem to favor—is that the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is only a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive, and will appear on competing systems some time after its PS4 debut.

To fans who grew up in the '90s, when Crash Bandicoot was positioned as Sony's (not entirely successful) answer to Mario and Sonic, the idea of Crash appearing on Microsoft or Nintendo consoles might seem absurd, but Crash Bandicoot has actually been a multi-platform franchise for a while. In 2002, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex made its way to both Nintendo's GameCube and the original Xbox, while the last entry in the series, Mind over Mutant, hit the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii, and the Nintendo DS. Crash Bandicoot spin-off titles also appeared on the Game Boy Advance and Nokia's N-Gage.

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy contains modern remasters of Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped, and updates the original titles by adding better lighting, improved textures, and brand new character models while preserving the classic level designs, leading to good-looking remakes that play almost exactly like the original games.
