GLOW Season 2 Release Date Announced

The girls are back in town.

Netflix has announced that season 2 of GLOW will launch on June 29.

The streaming service broke the news on Wednesday through an epic release date announcement video that features the cast, including Alison Brie as Ruth "Zoya the Destroya" Wilder and Betty Gilpin as Debbie "Liberty Belle" Eagan, swiping bright lipstick across their pouts, dusting hot pink eyeshadow on their eyelids, and dousing their tresses in enough extra-hold hairspray to make their noggins both wind-resistant and a fire hazard.

As the wrestling gals get themselves glammed, they lip-sync to Michael Sembello's synth-pop song "Maniac," popularized by its use in the 1983 film Flashdance, but Marc Maron's Sam Sylvia attempts to cut them off mid-track by stressing the importance of their impending show. But that doesn't stop the ladies from finishing up their fun time before heading out to the ring.

Released to critical acclaim in June of 2017, Netflix's GLOW takes place in 1985 Los Angeles, and follows a group of women as they find purpose and passion in joining the fledgling professional wrestling program called the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW), which director Sam Sylvia and producer Sebastian "Bash" Howard (Chris Lowell) turn into a television series.

Alongside Alison Brie as the once-struggling actress Ruth and Betty Gilpin as the former soap opera star Debbie, GLOW stars Sydelle Noel as Cherry "Junkchain" Bang, Britney Young as Carmen "Machu Picchu" Wade, Jackie Tohn as Melanie "Melrose" Rosen, Kate Nash as Rhonda "Britannica" Richardson, Britt Baron as Justine "Scab" Biagi, Kimmy Gatewood as Stacey "Ethel Rosenblatt" Beswick, Rebekka Johnson as Dawn "Edna Rosenblatt" Rivecca, Sunita Mani as Arthie "Beirut the Mad Bomber" Premkumar, Kia Stevens as Tammé "The Welfare Queen" Dawson, Gayle Rankin as Sheila "the She Wolf," Ellen Wong as Jenny "Fortune Cookie" Chey, Marianna Palka as Reggie "Vicky the Viking" Walsh, Bashir Salahuddin as Keith Bang, and Rich Sommer as Mark Eagan. Season 2 of the series will introduce Shakira Barrera as Yolana, also known as Yo-Yo, a "Mexican American dancer-stripper and out-and-proud lesbian."

The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling will make their (leg warmer-sporting, shiny leotard-rocking, big hair-loving) comeback when GLOW season 2 hits Netflix on June 29.
