Johnny English Is Back On The Job In First Johnny English Strikes Again Trailer

When society is on the precipice of total chaos, the destruction of the world imminent, only one man can swoop in and defuse the situation. No, he's not a muscle-bound sharpshooter, an immortal demigod, or a Marvel superhero of the Chris variety. He's Johnny English ... unfortunately.

Universal Pictures unveiled the first trailer for Johnny English Strikes Again, the third entry in the Rowan Atkinson-starring Johnny English film series. This time around, the titular (and ever-bumbling, under-qualified, always-quirky) British spy starts off living relatively blissfully in retirement, teaching at a preparatory school. But when a massive cyber attack suddenly makes public the secret identities of all of Britain's active undercover agents, the Secret Service taps Johnny English to pack up his collection of anti-skills, head to the south of France, and jump back in the life he thought he'd left behind.

Emma Thompson joins Atkinson for Johnny English Strikes Again, portraying the Prime Minister who tasks English with tracking down the evil masterminds behind the attack. Ben Miller is back again, playing MI7 agent Bough, with whom English reunites for the France-set adventure that involves magnetic boots, major explosions (intensified by a distorted version of Bonnie Tyler's 1986 track "Holding Out for a Hero"), missile fire, and a mysterious woman.

Directed by David Kerr (Inside No. 9) and written by William Davies (How to Train Your Dragon), Johnny English Strikes Again also stars Olga Kurylenko as Ophelia, Jake Lacy as Jason, Miranda Hennessy as Tara, David Mumeni as Fabian, Tuncay Gunes as Ted Guest, Nick Owenford as an Australian aide, and Junichi Kajioka as a Japanese diplomat.

Alongside the trailer, Universal also released the full plot synopsis for the film: "Johnny English Strikes Again is the third installment of the Johnny English comedy series, with Rowan Atkinson returning as the much-loved accidental secret agent. The new adventure begins when a cyber attack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, leaving Johnny English as the Secret Service's last hope. Called out of retirement, English dives head-first into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. As a man with few skills and analogue methods, Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success."

Johnny English Strikes Again will strike down in theaters on September 20.
