The Spy Who Dumped Me Trailer: Mila Kunis And Kate McKinnon Are Friends On The Run

Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon know their way around the comedy genre, with the former leading a surprise hit with Bad Moms and the latter sending viewers across the globe into giggle fits on Saturday Night Live. The duo (and their infectious goofball personalities) come together for Lionsgate's The Spy Who Dumped Me, which just dropped its first trailer on Wednesday.

Kunis and McKinnon star as Audrey and Morgan, respectively, two best friends trying their best to get by in Los Angeles. When Audrey's ex-boyfriend (played by Justin Theroux) suddenly comes knocking at their door, the girls are shocked to discover that he's actually a spy — and that the pack of deadly assassins who are after him are also looking for Audrey and Morgan.

The trailer teases plenty of action and even more wild antics from Kunis and McKinnon as the fish-out-of-water buddy duo land themselves in the thick of the spy world, ending up on the run in Europe as they attempt to save the world.

Take a look in the video above.

When The Spy Who Dumped Me, which is a play on the title of the 1977 James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me, was first announced, reports suggested that the ex-boyfriend character had been killed or would be killed in the movie, leaving Audrey and Morgan to finish the mission he started. This new trailer doesn't address that possibility directly, and the official synopsis that Lionsgate recently unveiled doesn't mention anything about him dying, so perhaps the plot was altered before The Spy Who Dumped Me went into production.

Directed and co-written by Susanna Fogel (Life Partners, Chasing Life), The Spy Who Dumped Me also stars Sam Heughan as the "suspiciously charming British agent" Sebastian Henshaw, Ivanna Sakhno as Nadedja, Fred Melamed as Roger, and Olafur Darri Olafsson as The Backpacker. Rounding out the cast are Hasan Minhaj (Senior Correspondent on The Daily Show), Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, Hannibal), and French actor Kev Adams.

The Spy Who Dumped Me is set for an August 3 release.
