Ant-Man And The Wasp Trailer Reveals New Partners In Action

Marvel's most fun-size hero is gearing up for a big partnership.

The sequel to 2015's Ant-Man will round out a trio of releases in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year, following Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War with a smaller (much smaller) story, and you can watch the first trailer for the comic book two-hander now.

Ant-Man and the Wasp brings back Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, a thief-turned-hero who takes up the mantle of Ant-Man from the shrinking technology's original inventor, Hank Pym. To combat a new threat that sends Pym's family on the run, Lang will team up with Pym's daughter, Hope, aka The Wasp — and with all apologies to you, Ant-Man, her suit is way cooler than yours.

The trailer highlights some of the Wasp's abilities, with her not only able to shrink to bug size thanks to Pym's technology, but also able to put up a heck of a fight with her suit's ability to fly and shoot energy blasts — two moves that Lang rightfully wonders why he wasn't allowed to get. The trailer also features the anticipated return of Lang's Giant-Man, towering over a terrifying-looking crowd — hopefully for a good reason.

Other highlights in the trailer spot include a trip to the Quantum Realm, Hank Pym's incredible shrinking office, and what appears to be the first Pez dispenser-related crush fatality ever to be recorded in the annals of American crime history.

Ant-Man and the Wasp may be the least-anticipated of the three Marvel movies coming out this year, with Black Panther and Infinity War both generating hype for their unprecedented steps in race representation and team-up scale, but just because this adventure looks relatively quaint doesn't mean it's worth sleeping on.

The 20th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will mark the first movie in the series to specifically name a female hero in the title — so sorry, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Valkyrie, Lady Sif, Jane Foster, Pepper Potts, and Captain Marvel. The Wasp is already out here with Jessica Jones, punching through glass ceilings with mid-air flips and frickin' laser beams. Goodness, these movies are fun.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to burst to full-size out of nowhere on July 6. Pull out your bifocals and check out the super-cute new poster for the team-up down below.
