The game is on in deadly Truth or Dare trailer
Lucy Hale is playing a deadly game in the first trailer for Blumhouse's upcoming horror film Truth or Dare. The movie features Hale as the leader of a group of college students who are haunted by evil spirits after playing a supernaturally-tinged game of truth or dare.
The trailer kicks off with the students sitting around a bonfire in Mexico, enjoying the game. However, things take a turn when the mysterious Carter (Landon Liboiron) reveals that he tricked Hale's Olivia into bringing her friends to the secluded location. "I brought you all up here because I'm okay with strangers dying if it means I get to live," he says.
Olivia pushes him to explain further, and he warns her that the game is real. "Wherever you go, whatever you do, it will find you," Carter tells her. Although they are able to leave Mexico unscathed, Olivia reveals that she's been "seeing things" since they left. Although her friends question her, Olivia sticks to her guns and says that something strange is going on.
"Carter said tell the truth or you die, do the dare or you die," Olivia explains. Her premonition is quickly revealed to be true after one student bites the dust after refusing a dare. "We're not playing the game," she says, as things continue to go further and further off the rails. "It's playing us."
Although the group swears to only pick truth, the game continues to get more and more intense, with personal secrets causing rifts within the friends. "This game is too smart," Olivia says. "How do we get out of this game alive?" The creepy response? "You can't. It only ends when all the players are dead. Then your turn's next."
Tyler Posy, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto, Sophia Taylor Ali, Aurora Perrineau, Brady Smith, Tom Choi, and Violett Beane also star in Truth or Dare. The movie, which was directed by Kick-Ass 2's Jeff Wadlow based off a script from Wadlow, Christopher Roach (Non-Stop), Michael Reisz (Shadowhunters), and Jillian Jacobs (Big Brother), will hit theaters on April 27.
